Thinking of you JP….
Dear Sis,
As you know I don’t stay home too often. However lately I have been feeling this is my time to relax a little more. To nest. To give myself permission to be lazy.
It is late, dark and pouring rain outside. I can hear it dripping down on my windows. There is something so cozy about this moment for me. All I want to do is crawl under a blanket and lie down in front of a fire.
But I am having this strong urge, for many reasons, to write to you.
It has now been a couple of weeks since JP has seen you. This is pretty unbelievable considering he hasn’t missed one day since April 2012. He is officially physically exhausted. Crashed and burned. I am so happy he is getting some rest. JP, if you are reading this, I just want you to know that we are thinking of you.
Over the last couple of weeks, I have missed the daily pics of you Karen on Facebook. JP, I have always so appreciated your picture. They keep me connected to her.
I would now like to share some pics with you of her over the last two weeks. I hope these pictures below make you smile.
The other day, I contacted my friend Kelly who works at the Hospice Palliative Care Centre next door to you Karen. She and I have not been in touch for a couple of years. But when I called her and asked, “Do you mind stopping in to see my sister for me? JP has not been there in a couple of weeks.” Well the next morning she was there at 10am. I loved Facetiming with you that morning. I miss you so much.
Our brother Brian, called me the other morning, after he left your hospital room. He was telling me a story about how he made you laugh. At the end of the story, he got a little chocked up and said, “I love it when I can make her laugh.” Karen to see you laugh, makes us all realize how small our problems really are.
Over the last couple of weeks I have also been in touch with Tara, JP’s sister. I really adore her Karen. She is so kind. I always remember you telling me how much you like her.
Well, she too has sent me a few pictures of you from her visits over the last two weeks. I love getting these intimate pictures Karen. You are truly amazing.
JP, how about I put a request out there…..
If anyone wants to visit Karen, now is the time. JP is taking a very well deserved break. If you are near St. Vincent’s Hospital in Ottawa, stop in to see my sis 🙂 She is in room 5406. I know she would love to see a familiar face or hear a story.
I love you sis,
Kathy xo
ps. I put a picture in down below that I showed to Jenna on Halloween. Brian is in the front dressed as a girl and Kelly – Jenna’s dad – on the right. So fun for Jenna to see her dad and I together in a pic when we were kids. But Karen, what I remember of that pic are those scary clown masks that dad made us wear lol he got them at some work function ?? We were so mad, do you remember ? We both did want to be a clown…lol!!! Anyhow I know this will make you laugh xo
