Girl talk, but we all know, men like to join in…
Dear sis,
I have not written in over a month. Sorry 🙁 please know that I have started at least 9 blogs to you !!! I love feeling this way, an urge that comes over me. I just leave everything I am doing – tonight I was supposed to cut the grass, go for walk/run – but instead I just sat down and started writing. There are always stories surrounding me and in my head.
So tonight, I have again decided, that I will write in the moment. But this time I will write and post. Karen, I also promise to finish all my other blogs to you in the very near future. Or I will have new stories to share everyday :). It won’t take another month. I promise.
Tonight, this picture inspired this blog.
Sheila, the mother of my friend’s Kerri and Laura, is residing in a retirement home, in North Vancouver. Reality is, this is the final chapter in her life. I most certainly hope it is a long and healthy chapter. I can only imagine, at this stage, what is most important to you. What you truly value. I feel myself really getting it now and if I make it to that age ? Wow.
When Kerri sent me this picture she said…
“My mom looks so forward to our visits. We go to her room where she has taken out her oil lamp. The three of us sit around and chat. One of us will bring a bottle of wine, she puts out a plate with desserts she has taken off the luncheon buffet and she puts on her Johnny Cash. ” How special. How heartfelt. How simple. I just love that whole environment for all three of them.
I have known these ladies for almost 30 years. When I moved out West from Ontario – at the age of 23 – Kerri was one of my first BC girlfriends. Her sister Laura has been part of our annual girl weekends for the last 12 years. This picture was taken in Scottsdale, on one of our many holidays.
Karen, I wanted to share this story with you for many reasons. I also want you to picture, as I did, how absolutely amazing it would be, if you, mom and I could have one last night together. Can you imagine ?? I can xo
I think of you now Karen and what little “stuff” you have left. How all of it means nothing to you now. What means the most to you now is staying connected. I know this for sure. How a visit from Brian and Lesley the other day, made you smile. I know how much you love seeing Brian. He has made us laugh so much over the years. Even when he texted me from your new room he said, “Hey we can watch blues fest from here !!”
And then there are your beautiful kids. I loved Facetiming them over the Easter Holidays. I miss them. I am so grateful for all the holidays I shared with them. More to come. I will always be there for your children Karen.
We all need to be simply grateful for what we have. Appreciate all, now and in this moment. Not tomorrow.
I love you sis,
Kathy xo
ps. Oh I have the perfect “PS” for you…my sexual sister lol A couple of weeks ago, I ventured out with 4 girlfriends and went to this new sex store in Parksville called “Sexpositive”. Wow !!! I did not realize what is out there today !!! Did you know that you can buy a vibrator that comes with an app, so if you are dating someone long distance, that person can control the vibration from anywhere ?!?!?! I actually think that is pretty amazing 🙂 They were also $$$$. The average one was $300. Of course I liked the $700 ones. Then there was “The Wand”.. major attachments 🙂 It was such a fun day. I started out thinking I was just going to a sex store with Wendy to buy an old fashioned $75 vibrator. But , before I knew it, there were 5 of us, with inquiring minds and lots of questions.
Nikki, the lady who assisted us, was amazing, Super knowledgable and had such a great sense of humour!! When I checked out their website, I loved this one comment from the co-founder. He wrote….
“I’m very passionate about educating society on how to become free of shame and how to enjoy the healing power of pleasure.”
So yes, here we are…and that is NOT a microphone 🙂
On the way home from Tofino, Jenna and I went for a paddle…
Love you sis….
I promise to write again soon…so happy that Lu read you my last blog xoxo

I love the stories you share with your sister Kathy! Our shopping day was so much fun! I’m sure we made Nikki’s day when all 5 of us walked in her store. Great sales day I’m sure! #itsnotamicrophone
